Drop back in time to Old Florida and the stunning scenery surrounding Orange Lake as fifty of Florida’s finest plein air artists paint on site for a six day art marathon. Combining the excitement of a sports event with the creative intensity of live performance, the HEART of FLORIDA PAINT OUT offers artists and spectators three distinctive venues and the opening of the Heart of Florida Scenic Trail.

McIntosh, Florida is a beautifully preserved Victorian small town, featuring ancient oaks, palm vistas, architecturally significant homes, churches, railroad depot and packing houses dating from the days when the Heart of Florida was king of citrus and the railway carried fruit to the north. The Orange Lake Overlook paint out site features hilltop views from the Huff family’s old citrus shop, now converted into the new Windmill Gallery. Completing the trio of sites is the hamlet of Evinston, directly on the shores of Orange Lake, and the location of Florida’s oldest Post Office, the Wood & Swink general store.

Spectators and art collectors converge from throughout the southeast for this signature event, enjoying art, music, food and camraderie. This year’s Paint Out kicks off the brand new Heart of Florida Scenic Trail. The Trail guide will be offered free of charge at the event, allowing you to engage in a self-guided tour of exploration throughout the area.

Stop by the paint out for a day, you’ll want to stay for a week. When it is all over you’ll take home more than a freshly painted canvas; the memories last a lifetime and you may find yourself inspired to take up a creative endeavour of your own!
